My first experience of assisting people therapeutically occurred a number of years ago when working with youngsters to improve their skills in Cricket. Part of that role was for the players to understand any difficulties they had and to develop a positive attitude to resolving those issues. I coached at both Regional and National levels in Wales and I subsequently attained a Masters Degree in Sports Development and Coaching. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing individuals progress and develop by understanding their issues, this led me to wanting to be a classroom teacher. I subsequently attained my teaching qualification (PGCE) from the University of Wales in Newport.

In 2012 I became a manager at NIACE Cymru (The adult learning charity) where my main role was to inspire adults who were not in work or training to develop personal skills and confidence to enter the world of adult education and potentially work.

I then moved into the field of equalities as I could see that some peoples were being discriminated because of who they are. In that role I empowered individuals to challenge, often their employers, about the ways in which they were being treated. Jointly we would seek out avenues to achieve this. I found this role in helping people my first step to entering Counselling.

Previously I worked as Head of Diversity and Inclusion for a public sector organisation. In 2025/2026 I continue to further my academic studies by undertaking further courses and training as listed below.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) 404613 and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) NCS 22-02141 . I follow the BACP’s ethical framework which jointly protects both counsellor and client in and out of the counselling room. I am fully insured as a counsellor and I have an up to date DBS certificate, which can be viewed upon request.

I have for the last two years volunteered at both Concern Cymru and Cruse and I continue to work on a freelance basis for Cardiff MIND

Interests

My interests outside of counselling include; Sport, politics, border collies, travel, gardening and in particular looking after my young grandsons.
